This week is our celebration of the Autumn Equinox. This is the brief moment when the day and night are of equal length. It marks the end of our long lazy summer evenings and the start of chilly winter nights. Like many people I love the transitions of Autumn, the beautiful colours and the celebration of harvest.
I find Harvest celebrations a beautiful reminder of the experiences we share with other humans, regardless of culture and geography.
We all have Harvest rituals that show gratitude for nature and the skills and labour that produce our food.
Personally I mark this time with a session of meditation focusing on gratitude, and a session of cooking to share with friends.
This year we can't offer big meal at home so I made some pumpkin spice cookies to hand out on visits.
It may not be much but these small tokens of recognition seem to mean more now than ever and I'm deeply grateful to have people to share with.
I'd love to hear how you are adapting your celebrations and gifts at this time.
